Luxury yoga & meditation retreat, South-West France

Saturday August 18 - Thursday August 23, 2012

Chateau de Sers
This year, we are excited to be holding our August yoga & meditation retreat at a stunning Chateau in the heart of the idyllic region of Charante, rural South-West France.

The fairytale Chateau de Sers, which we are hiring exclusively for this retreat, is a sister venue to the highly regarded Les Passeroses, where we held our first August retreat in 2011.

Set in two hectares of enclosed gardens, and surrounded by woodland, fields and tracks, Chateau de Sers combines medieval splendour with contemporary, luxurious feel. A large, spectacular outdoor swimming pool nestles in these grounds.

The bedrooms at Chateau to Sers
Two wings – the Medieval and Classical – house a total of six large and beautiful rooms, furnished with good quality beds, including two four-posters, period and vintage furniture.

Weather permitting, yoga and meditation classes will be held in the Chateau gardens, or in the small wood. Otherwise, our classes will take place in the 48m2 yoga room: a gorgeous panelled space boasting solid old oak floor and double doors leading to the courtyard and grounds.

Although surrounded by trees and greenery, the chateau is attached to the 11th century church of Sers and is at the edge of a typical rural French village, with a café, boulangerie, and small shop.

Catering on this retreat will be supplied by the team at Les Passeroses, renowned for providing first-rate meals, and will be entirely vegetarian.

A little wine will be available to enjoy with evening meals. Please note, however, that to respect the retreat atmosphere, and so you can get the most out of your yoga and meditation practice, we suggest - if you do chose to drink - limiting intake to one or two glasses with your meal.

Travel: By Train

We strongly recommend taking the train; it's more comfortable and less stressful than flying. The journey this way is also more enjoyable and more environmentally-friendly.

Situated just north-east of Bordeaux, the nearest Eurostar station is Angouleme (direct from St Pancreas, there is one change in Paris or Lille.)

Eurostar prices from £109 return. Transfers from Angouleme Rail Station to the retreat centre can be arranged.

Please note: Eurostar tickets can be booked 12 weeks in advance. Last minute bookings tend to be far more expensive.

Travel: By plane

There are also plenty of flights to nearby Bordeaux - fly London-Bordeaux with Easyjet, then catch a train (60 minutes) to Angeloume, where you will be transferred to the retreat centre.
