We return to one of favourite Marrakech Riads, for our fourth small-group Easter yoga holiday at this beautiful and amazingly tranquil venue, where you'll be surrounded by citrus trees and birdsong. Explore the souks, gardens and galleries of evocative Marrakech, or sunbathe and read on the roof terrace. You'll eat, and live, very well. Maximum 12 guests.

Our Easter yoga holiday in short

The easter, we are again taking exclusive hire of one of our favourite Marrakech Riads: a beautiful old mansion designed around a central courtyard: one of the settings for yoga, and a fabulous spot for afternoon tea and home-made cake!

Our venue (view of the courtryard, left) is in the heart of Marrakech's colorful medina, yet a sanctuary of peace and tranquility. You'll be surrounded by birdsong, palms and citrus trees. 

There are just five beautifully appointed bedrooms, a large roof terrace (another great yoga spot!) and a roof-top plunge pool.  Once the main Riad is full, we will accommodate guests at a small, equally peaceful Riad opposite the main venue, making a maximum of 12 guests in total. 

From this restful base, you are free to explore the cultural and shopping delights of Marrakech (the main square is an eight-minute walk away) in your own time, or just stay at the Riad sunbathing, resting or reading. 

A guided cultural tour of Marrakech is included in the cost of the break. However, this is your own time, and the vibe is relaxed; nothing is compulsory. 

As ever, food is a large part of the holiday; the Riad's own chefs produce outstanding, home-cooked, vegetarian food, which is delicious and plentiful. Special diets can be catered for with advance notice. 

Yoga and meditation sessions

The twice-daily yoga and meditation classes will be suitable for all levels, from beginners through to experienced students. We will enjoy two classes a day: the morning session will be energising hatha flow yoga, with options given for different levels of experience. 

The evening session will be a much gentler combination of yoga, relaxation and mindfulness meditation. Satvada's own Lucia Cockcroft (see info, below), will be teaching this retreat. 

Our handpicked venue: home from home

This is the quietest and most restful of all the Marrakech-centre Riads we know, mainly due to its setting by the gardens of the Royal Palace. 

Plants and citrus trees line the courtyard, and a symphony of birdsong (and call to prayer!) heralds a new day.

Service is warm, efficient and friendly, with the owners experienced at hosting groups and many of our past yoga retreats. 


The five guest bedrooms, arranged on different floors above the courtyard, are all ensuite, beautifully and individually designed and very comfortable.

Why Marrakech?

We have been returning to Marrakech for yoga holidays for five years, and are often asked: why here?

There are so many reasons: we love the exoticism, colour and vibrancy of the city. London is only just over three hours away by plane, yet a world away. We love the gardens; the surrounding snow-topped Atlas mountains; the colour and life of the ancient medina; the city's seductive mix of old and new; the climate, and dazzling spring light and sun; the wonderful food, rich with spices and flavour. 

We also love the endless hospitality and warmth of the Moroccan people. There is likely to be some banter and good-humoured attempts to engage you in conversation whilst you wander around the souks. In our experience, this is rarely a problem, and, in general, visitors find this city friendly and safe. 

A word about our teacher

Lucia, Satvada's co-founder, has been practising yoga and meditation for almost 20 years. 

After a career in journalism, she trained to become a yoga teacher almost ten ago. Since then, Lucia has been privileged to study under world-leading teachers, and is currently studying for an MSc in Mindfulness Based Approaches at the University of Bangor. Lucia believes passionately that yoga is for everyone, regardless of age, religion or background. She teaches in an inclusive, sensitive, nurturing way.

Cost:

Getting there:

Transfers to and from Marrakech airport: 15 euros return.

Flights. We recommend Easyjet or BA. Ryanair is also an option. Flying time from London-Marrakech is 3 hours, 20 minutes.
