So why Morocco?

Ah, so many reasons! The year-round sunshine, for starters; even in December and January, day-time temperatures are around 20 degrees, with seven hours' sunshine, and crisp, sharp nights, when fires are lit and stars burn bright. Even after many years of travelling here, this country retains its magic.

Morocco's visceral 'otherness' pulls us awake: the vivid colours, quality of light, smells of wood smoke and incense, the sight of camels by the road side and donkeys in the medieval alleyways. All this merges to create a feast for the senses; all after just over three hours' flying time, and no time difference or jet-lag!

Our popular Marrakech Wellbeing Weekends run over three nights, with the option to extend your break by booking extra nights. Starting on the first afternoon your schedule will be an enticing mix of daily yoga and meditation, 45-minute massage from an expert local therapist, outstanding vegetarian food and plenty of time to explore Marrakech, indulge in a hammam, or top up on sunshine.

Your accommodation for the trip is a trusted, Riad; a traditional and beautiful town house, built around a central courtyard adorned with citrus trees, birdsong and a central fountain.

Although just minutes from the famous Jemaa el fna cental square, the Riads are a true oasis, brimming with character and charm. We love them more each time we return, and our guests do, too.

These trips are based at a very special European-run Kasbah, nestling in the Atlas Mountain foothills, yet only 40 minutes' drive from Marrakech airport.

Our Atlas Mountain Yoga and Walking Holidays run over five nights, six days, with extra, optional nights easily arranged. The programme offers daily hiking from the door, superlative mountain views at every turn, two daily yoga classes, varied and tasty cuisine, and extensive organic gardens.

Walks are around three hours long, always straight from the door. Over varied terrain, circular routes weave through a landscape of villages, olive groves and farmland. Our schedule is busier than most of our holidays and retreats; perfect for lovers of the Great Outdoors seeking an active, energising break in some of north Africa's quietest, most heart-stopping scenery.
